Well, it’s better late than never for Bridgit to get recognized for her debut single Ready or Not, which reached platinum status after 1 MILLION copies of the song were sold. Um, yeah, that’s not an easy task, so we know that Bridgit is super happy for this accomplishment. She hit it a while back, but just recently received her platinum record, saying:

It’s never too late to get a platinum plaque! I AM SO EXCITED!!! Thanks to Hollywood Records for giving this to me today 🙂

Congratulations to Bridgit, we hope the upcoming album will do just as good!

Bridgit Mendler has grown up and moved on to college, but she still relates to that “back to school” spark that strikes every summer. The actress, singer and University of Southern Calfornia student will headline a concert at 4 p.m. Saturday at Tanger Outlets on U.S. 17, near Briarcliffe Acres, then have a meet-and-greet afterward.

That outlet center, as well as its site on U.S. 501 near Carolina Forest, will celebrate with a “KidStyle Tour and Fashion Camp” back-to-school celebration with activities 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Mendler, whose debut album in 2012 included the pop singles “Ready or Not” and “Hurricane,” made 10 minutes fly in a breeze in a phone chat last week while on a family vacation in New Hampshire.

Question | What was your most unforgettable moment or episode from all four years of “Good Luck Charlie,” the series that wrapped up this past spring?

Answer | My favorite episode was the “Battle of the Bands” episode. … I got to sing with the “Good Luck Charlie” family. … We just had so much fun together.

    Q. | In your era at Disney Channel, including “Wizards of Waverly Place,” and thinking about other shows there you watched as a fan – how has Disney Channel evolved just in recent years? I mean, the channel has different blocks of programming for different youth age groups.

    A. | I was really excited to be part of “Good Luck Charlie” because it was a family-oriented show, something aimed for the whole family. Disney does a good job with that. … “Wizards of Waverly Place” also was such a joy to do.

Check out more from the interview she did with right here, to find out more about her upcoming album, hobbies and future plans.

For an entertainer in Bridgit Mendler’s position, the greatest opportunity and seemingly single biggest struggle come from the same source: Disney.

It’ll make you famous, as Disney Channel did for Mendler, the 21-year-old former star of the sitcom “Good Luck Charlie.” But it’ll also cause people to wonder whether, outside that mouse-ear-shaped shadow, they should take you seriously.

That question played itself out Saturday night at the Erie County Fair, where Mendler – now a Hollywood Records recording artist – played an hourlong, 14-song set.

My verdict: She’s serious, and those of us watching should be, too. While Mendler doesn’t have the pop presence of, say, a Miley Cyrus or Selena Gomez, she possesses an onstage quality they don’t – a personality with some earthiness.

That regular-girl persona emerges in her lyrics and, even more so, her simple presentation: Mendler had a four-piece band (guitar, bass, keys, drums) and no backup dancers, leaving her to command the stage by herself. Wearing dark ankle boots, black-and-white, high-waisted shorts and a patterned crop top, Mendler had no costume changes and, in fact, never left the stage.

But she did vary up the show. Mendler mixed several songs from her 2012 debut album, “Hello, My Name is…,” with a handful of newer works (she’s in the midst of developing her sophomore release) and Sam Smith and Coldplay covers.

In an interview a couple of weeks ago, Mendler told me that aside from the set list itself, she improvises everything in her show: the song introductions, the choreography.

It’s in this creative space that Mendler flourishes.

But should you take her seriously?

Surely. Mendler takes her art seriously. She doesn’t have the in-your-face starpower of certain ex-Disney stars, but that’s OK. With pop comes fizzle. Mendler doesn’t seem to be fizzling out anytime soon. She’s different – and that’s good.

Bridgit Mendler recently debuted a brand-new song, ‘Fly to You’, during a performance at Big Red Fest in Canada.

“This song was one of the songs that I wrote — I think it was in, like, November — and it was a song that just struck a chord with me, no pun intended,” the former Disney star revealed while introducing the track. “It’s just a beautiful song about a relationship that is on the rocks but you want to fight for it and you’d want to do anything for it.”

The bubbly singer went on to entertain the crowd (even taking a selfie with the audience!) before launching into the mid-tempo tune, which showcases her sweet voice as backed up by a full band.
“I’d fly to you / Every little piece of me, sitting on a pair of wings,” she sings on the chorus. ” … I’ll never give up, always been tied to you / Tell me my love, tell me you’re flying too.”

Bridgit is currently on the road and is touring around the country at various amusement parks, fairs, and festivals this summer. See her tour dates here, and check out her performance of her new song ‘Fly to You’ in the video above!

Bridgit Mendler is best known from her singing and acting career, but she wants to be seen as more than that. Bridgit would like the world to see her as just another college student. Even though she is afraid of her new classmates judging her for being a performer, she shares her story and they accept her for who she really is. The real Bridgit is just like any other student.

See The Real Me is about girls showing who they really are, and what makes them unique.

Check out the advertisement above that Bridgit did for Clean&Clear‘s new campaign “See the Real Me”. Join the #SeetheRealMe conversation using the hashtag on your favorite social media!
